Aerial Lighthouse - Cabo de la Huerta - 4K

This is the first time I record at sunrise, and I don't find easy to deal with the lights and shadows in post-production. The video might be a bit dark, but I hope you can enjoy it anyway.

Aerial Canyon Lindy Hop

Spontaneously trying to dance some Lindy Hop with friends on the edge of the canyon. It was very windy so the footage is not as smooth as I would have liked, and as I only flew some minutes I didn't have many resources to make the video longer. It was quite fun though!

Aerial - A view above the lake

Enjoy a beautiful aerial ride of the lake and along the narrow canyon.

Steep, meandering slopes and vertical walls are dotted with small caves that combine to make a stunning landscape in which ochre coloured limestone contrasts spectacularly with the surrounding greenery. For millions of years, the river has shaped the landscape of an exceptional area which has become the preferred habitat for the griffon vulture, one of the largest birds of prey.

Across the field aerial

Trying to reach the peak of the mountain ahead in a windy day. The gimbal got crazy. I had to press Return To Home to come back and land automatically.

Aerial drone footage kayaking in the lake. First time flying long time over water.

Canyon Walls

A short walk by the canyon walls on a cloudy day. I should have removed the ND filter, the lack of light makes the objects look not well defined.

Aerial Showreel 2014

V017. Quick showreel of my best moments of 2014 recording video from a quadcopter. There are still many things to improve in order to obtain better shots and video quality, but so far I am pretty happy with the results of this past year.

The Alcázar of Segovia (Spain) Aerial

V016.

The unique silhouette and privileged location of theAlcázar of Segovia, a UNESCO World Heritage site along with the massive aquaduct and town of Segovia which both lie nearby, is several centuries old, though the location has been in use as a fort since the 12th century. Primarily Gothic with Renaissance alterations, it was originally a fortress (year 1122), but has also been a royal palace. The castle is surrounded by two rivers–Clamores and Eresma–flowing on either side. These rivers not only provide water for the greenery around the castle, but also add an extra layer of defense.

Most part of the shots are from the front view. For safety reasons I didn´t fly over the entrance of the Alcázar, where all the visitors are walking around.

Aerial footage shot at the Iglesia de la Vera Cruz in Segovia

V015.

It has been a while since I recorded my last video Aerial real state, so I couldn´t wait for recording a new one! It was an early morning shot on a fine sunny day.

Consecrated in 1208, Vera Cruz was built by the Knights Templar to house a fragment of the True Cross. It is thus not really a parish church or even a monastic church, but primarily a shrine. Vera Cruz has a unique 12-sided exterior with a tower on the south side. Its shape is patterned on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, where according to legend the True Cross was found by St. Helena in the 4th century.

Removing GoPro fish eye

Here you can see the difference between the original footage (1080, 60fps, M FOV) and the results removing the fish eye with the lens distortion effect (value:  -15) in Premiere. In my opinion recording in medium (or wide) FOV helps preventing the jello effect and makes the footage look nicer.

Aerial Real State

V014. Recording date: 21-07-2014

Some scenes have been filmed with FPV. The GoPro Hero 3 with medium FOV, in my opinion, makes the video look better and probably helps avoiding jello and vibrations in comparison to recording in narrow FOV. I used the ND filter (3 stops) too.

Flying the Iron Man 650 with Tarot T-2D gimbal

V013. Recording date: 21-07-2014

After recording the Countryside aerial video I had to wait for a landing leg spare part. I reviewed the balance of the propellers and went to fly. I used the ND filter for these sceenes, but I also tried without it and could not be able to find the difference...

I tested the max tilt for the GPS mode,  and it is quite fast. In Atti mode the quad makes some funny movements due to not 100% prop balance I guess. Too much wind affects as well the general behaviour, or it does this weird movements by itself...

The GoPro is in Medium FOV, but removed the fish eye in post.

Flying the Iconic X FPV

Fun flight with this quadcopter. I haven´t worked on the jello issue yet as I haven´t had many free time lately. This quad is light, fast and powerful!

One of the screws holding the GoPro platform was a bit loose and I lost it, so the platform rotated and the camera has hit with the propeller. Now the camera is not sending video live!! I´ll reset it with the factory settings and hopefully it will work again.

For better view DO NOT put full screen ;)

Setup:

Frame Iconic X FPV Foldable
BL-2830/11 1000kv motors
20A SK ESC
10x4.5 Plastic HK propellers
KK2 controller board
FrSKY V8FR-II receiver
Turnigy 9XR transmitter

Iconic X FPV foldable maiden flight

This is the maiden flight with the frame Iconix X FPV foldable. I have only placed the basics (no FPV equipment yet) to test it.

The camera is placed on the front of the frame, directly over it with no anti-vibration dampeners (only the ones that come with the frame to isolate the top plate). The results, as you can see, are dreadful!! I guess this is because the old motors, whose holders are a bit bended and  produce this horrible vibrations :)

The total weight of this equipment is 1.9kg, and I have had the following flight times:

  • 14 minutes with a Turnigy 3S 4000 mAh
  • 17 minutes with a Turnigy 3S 5000 mAh

There´s something funny about two of the motors. If I attach them with more than 1 screw out of 4, the motors don't work!!! So those two motors are attached to the frame with just one screw each!

Build of the Iconic X FPV foldable

Yesterday I worked on the Iconic X FPV I bought on September. It took me some hours for this basic setup, as I have reused the motors I had before, same propellers, ESCs, the KK2 and the FrSky receiver with the Turnigy 9XR. Ready to fly!

The objective is having a better setup and probably a gimbal as well. But so far I will just see how it flyes. I need the FPV equipment also!
